I'm never returning. Get it together Parakai Springs Lodge! As part of our Far North road trip we stayed at Parakai Springs.
We were a bit early arriving but extremely tired after a series of night flights and no sleep for over 24 hours. On arrival that wasn't a problem and our room was prepared quickly so we could rest. The spa pool was also prepared for us to help us relax. Nothing was a problem. It's so nice when the proprietor goes the extra mile for you. The pool and spa are fed directly from thermal springs and so nice to be in. The bed in the room was amazing too.
Very very comfortable. Would love to know what it was so we can buy one ourselves. The room was also very quiet despite being close to a main road. Nice big spa bath in the rooms too. The only negative was a small long window at floor level with no curtain. The light comes in waking you up. Thank you so much for looking after us. Highly recommended. I had to visit family in the region and when I tried to find acceptable accommodation this was the only place that met my requirements.
There are many place to say within this region but none that I found were as clean and tidy as Parakai Springs lodge. I hired two rooms when I visited, and nicely enough they managed to put the rooms together - there was no inter joining door or anything but it was nice knowing that my family was close by. You are left quite self sufficient, nobody bothers you, I'm not sure if this is regular protocol for the Lodge but I arrived quite late and had to retrieve my keys from another Motel near by, the motel you get your keys from is also the place you return them to and you perhaps think you've made a wrong decision when you do see the Motel but rest assured, the lodge itself merely meters down the road is a lot nicer.
You feel secure because there are security camera's discreetly but visible everywhere. I hired two of the upstairs rooms which offered spas in them both one was a twin room and the other just regular Super King bed, both were comfortable and despite being right by the road quite quiet. From upstairs you can see the lower rooms which all have their own individual spas which you can fill up when you arrive.
Parking: Free! Enter dates to get started. Room tip: If you are unable to walk up stairs then get a suite with a spa. Amazing get away for a Sunday stay. Booked 2 times in the last 24 hours Last booked 3 hours ago.
I only know this because I spoke with someone at the pools The cost is pretty good and each room has it's own air conditioning unit heatpump which I really appreciated. Just one note though, if you are a messy person or couple or family There is a dish washer though. The entire property feels very secure, you can only get in through the main gates which are controlled with remotes so if security is big for you and being in a gated complex suits then this is the place to stay.
Finally worked out which 'Springs' apartments we were staying in.
Looked lovely from the outside just couldn't find how to get in! Finally someone left by car and the electric gates slid open. Walked around and could find nobody. Reception notice on window recommends keys from Motel. Best to tell the guest before they arrive or put the notice outside! Once allowed in and given keys the apartment was fantastic with kingsize bed and large whirlpool bath.
Great place to relax. Investigated the onsite pool. A thermal pool. Hey heated pool, that's great. Not so fast folks just think its at the right temp for all those wonderful bugs and algae to thrive! The pool was a relaxing dip but very slippy with green stuff growing on the sides and floor. What else growing i do not know.
I was not too confident it had been treated by any chemicals other than water straight out of the glorious Earth. It's a lovely easy drive from central Auckland, easy to find though you have to pick and drop keys off at another location which wasn't attended at checkout time. The room was very clean, the kitchen has cutlery for 2 people, the spa was sooo amazing, though noisy in the night.
The roadside location didn't bother us at all, my partner would've liked sky sports for these busy sporting weekends but local bar was able to help out with that! I'd go back there :.
