ASDA has sparked a supermarket petrol price pump war after dropping prices at its forecourts this morning. The retailer has cut 1p a litre off unleaded and 2p a litre off diesel following a further fall in wholesale costs - the price supermarkets pay for fuel.

As Asda has a national fuel price cap, the move means drivers will pay no more than And Morrisons has been hot on Asda's heels today. Tesco is also joining in, cutting unleaded by 1p a litre and diesel by up to 2p a litre at all of its petrol filling stations by 5pm this evening.
